Application
In the multi-layer process, handle the powder coatings as follows:
After the component has been stripped and degreased, e.g. by glass bead or sand blasting, the first coat of paint (primer) is applied and baked in a preheated oven according to the recommended burn-in conditions. Remember that the baking time will vary depending on the thickness of your substrate.
After the curing time, allow the component to cool down briefly. When the object has a residual temperature of approx. 70°/80° C, the second layer (e.g. RAL 9005) is applied and baked again with the recommended burn-in conditions. Do the same with the third layer (clear coat). When baking, please ensure that the object temperature is correct in each case with the corresponding holding time (ideally using a laser temperature measuring device)
The individual steps must be carried out in one operation in order to ensure cross-linking of the respective layers.
The final strength of the powder coating is reached approx. 5 - 30 minutes after cooling.
